COMBINED BACHELOR & BACHELORETTE PARTIES – YES OR NO?

2023

For the better or for the worse, combined bachelor & bachelorette parties are certainly becoming increasingly popular around the world. As a business planning bachelor and bachelorette parties, we see these celebrations happening more and more often! It is entirely possible that your fiancé might suggest this type of arrangement, but before faking your own death and disappearing into the Canadian wilderness to live among the elk and caribou, let us reassure you that these parties can actually be a lot of fun if done properly!

Let’s face it, the future bride is usually the one who suggests this type of celebration, while most grooms are completely morally against the concept. So, for all you engaged men out there who have heard their fiancés mutter something about combining the stag and stagette parties, we’ve made a PRO and CON list just for you. Trust us, a combined party isn’t as bad as you think!

The Pros and Cons of a Combined Stag & Stagette Party:

PROS:

  • Bonus points with your future wife (happy wife=happy life)
  • Live vicariously through your single friends as they meet your fiancé’s single friends
  • Avoid months (or years) of questions about your stag party
  • Less of a chance of spending your wedding budget on female entertainers & tacky tourist hats
  • Your fiancé’s friends may very well be much more fun that your buddies
  • Groups are larger and therefore many costs can be split between a greater number of people (big win!)

CONS

  • Your friends will ask you when you lost your manhood
  • She will be watching..
  • You’ll have to hear that annoying whipping sound effect from your buddies for months
  • You could end up at a wine bar talking about the flower arrangements you chose for the wedding

However, all this being said, these types of parties can be the greatest party you pull off ever, or a bit lame if not done well. For the sake of brides and grooms-to-be everywhere, we have made you a list of “Do”s and “Don’t”s if you choose to have this type of celebration.

The “Do”s and “Don’t”s of a Combined Bachelor and Bachelorette Party:

DO

  • Make sure activities are fun for both the groom’s friends and the bride’s friends
  • Make it competitive
  • Integrate the groups, so that it’s not just the groom and the bride being the bridge to the other side
  • Get just as wild as you would at a normal stag / stagette party (just not as raunchy!)
  • Try to get your single friends to get together (it’s just more interesting for everyone if they do)

DON’T

  • Let anyone in either group start talking about extreme couple stuff (your future married life)
  • Get jealous
  • Spend the whole time attached to your fiancé’s hip
  • Cut the night early just because the other group decided to do so
  • Rule out strippers…watching a strip show together can be a bonding experience (not even joking)!

If you follow this advice, there’s no reason why your combined stag and stagette party shouldn’t be just as awesome as a traditional stag or stagette.
